Dog License/Renewal Application
The primary function of the Dog Control Officer (DCO) is to enforce both the New York State Agriculture and Markets Laws regarding dog licensing and dangerous dogs and Town of Ovid ordinances relating to animals, as well as bite case investigations and quarantine management. However, these are not the entirety of an Dog Control Officer’s responsibilities. The office also acts as a clearinghouse for information regarding lost and found pets in our community and this information is shared with other local animal agencies.
Additionally Dog Control acts as a resource for residents looking for information regarding bite prevention and canine body language and as adjunct investigating authority with police agencies in cases of animal abuse and neglect.
