Notice: Seneca County Board of Supervisors to meet in Ovid at the Historic Three Bears Complex October 9 at 6:00 pm

The Ovid Town Board is reminding its residents that the Seneca County Board of Supervisors will hold its annual meeting at the “Papa Bear” building in the Town of Ovid on Tuesday, October 9.  The meeting begins at 6:00 pm.

Ovid was the original county seat before that designation went to Waterloo. For years, the Board of Supervisors has scheduled a fall meeting at the Papa Bear courthouse in Ovid as an honor to the south-end residents, combined with the fact the county is a “dual shire” municipality.

In addition to an opportunity to learn about county government, the event gives Ovid residents a unique opportunity to address the supervisors and raise their concerns about Seneca County government.

Among the agenda items at the October 9 will be a public hearing on a proposed local law giving the County Supervisors the power to appoint the Director of Emergency Management for a term of office of two years.

The event is free and open to the public.   Persons who wish to address the supervisors publicly should contact Margaret Li, Clerk to the Board of Supervisors, at (315) 539-1700 or email to supervisors@co.seneca.ny.us.
